Lok Kawi Wild Park Part 1

We visited the Sabah very own Zoo at Lok Kawi last Sunday. It was their Open Day so entrance free :D Itu yang penting bah! Especially time sekarang macam di ambang gawat @ recession sudah.

Tapi actually kan, sebelum saya visit this place, saya ada ternampak di TV1 dalam program 'Jelajah Destinasi'. Itupun kebetulan Jurucakapnya ialah my cousin's (Dr. Rosa Sipangkui) husband. I managed to video it tapi the quality not so good tapi boleh difahamilah.

On the way to the Park. We have to park our car outside coz the parking space is fully occupied. Huh! panasnya matahari.

Old and young, adults and children, KadazanDusun, Chinese, Malays etc. were crowding the Park. Walaupun penat dan panas tapi kami enjoy tengok berbagai ragam dan gelagat manusia :D

I'll upload more pictures in Part 2

Gaya Street Performer

As I promised in my previous posting, here is the video I mentioned. The musicians are blind but yet very talented. I was really amazed when they were playing Shadow's 'Dance On'. Enjoy...

You are a True Sabahan when...

I don't know whether I should post this one coz I know some Sabahan must have created this and posted in his/her blog or could have e-mailed to everybody coz I received this through e-mail from my cousin.

But this one is so good not to be shared :D So, whoever the original writer is, may I ask your permission to post it here? Thank you...

1) You drive at right lane of the road, with a speed of only 50 KM/H. If people horn behind you, you still don't know what's wrong.
Erm..I don't drive gia..

2) You have the luxury of working from 8 AM to 5 PM (get off work punctually).
I always come to the office by 7.30am and leave at 5.30 or 6.00pm

3) You don't believe that there is any "clean" politician in Sabah.
Not only in Sabah maaaa...

4) You feel "obligated" to reach the top of Mount Kinabalu at least once in a lifetime.
Never climb the mountain :D

5) You prefer a big car than a big house (probably you can't drive a big house around to show off).
I prefer big houselah..I don't need car coz I don't drive

6) You wear slipper and short wherever you go, even in city.
Slipper? Sandal ada lah and as for short, time bujang, ya but not anymore..malu bah nanti nampak tu hunok hehehe

7) You still think that Labuan belongs to Sabah
Never! How could I forget this one!!

8) You will not go to any FREE seminar / function that has no food or refreshment.
If it is instruction from the office, then, food or no food, mesti pigi maaa..

9) You don't care about service. You just want things cheap, cheap, cheap.
Service? Quality bah penting but of course cheap is most important thing

10) You know where to get your candles and torch light quickly in the total darkness (due to training by frequent blackout).
No I don't. I always grab my mobile first (ada cahaya juga bah tu handphone)

11) You know what "aramaitiee" means...
I know the real meaning but I don't think I'm gonna agree with the 'new meaning' of it :)

12) You shout "referee bodoh" and at the same time throw mineral water bottles on the pitch during a football match at Likas Stadium..
Never watch football at Likas Stadium, yet!

13) Your Timorese maid ran away with her lover, taking your money or jewellery along..
Never have Timorese or Filipinos maid. But I do hear story like they went missing with your belongings. Palis-palis...minta jauh-jauh..

14) You doubt someone's mykad wether it is real or fake..
Yes I do!

15) Your favourite assemblyman whom you vote and supported all this while...gambled away and lost a whopping 60 million ringgit in a London casino..
And why until now, belum ada action ah?? And I didn't vote for him, ok. Saya vote di Moyog/Penampang

16) You go inside a karaoke at 12 pm and realise that the place is still open at 5 am...
Lama sudah tidak pigi karaoke but the last time I went, saya pulang before midnight so I don't actually know whether they still open until dawn

17) You come across a supposedly local person but with a very foreign accent..
Ya..ada juga tu...saya pula yang malu-malu dengar orang tu bercakap 'slang' lebih-lebih :D

18) You cannot vote in an election because someone has voted on behalf of you...
So far, it never happened to me yet..hopefully not..

19) You own a bakakuk
I don't but my father ada..with licence ok...hehehe...

So now tell me, am I a truly Sabahan?

Gaya Street, Kota Kinabalu

We went to Gaya Street Sunday Market coz my hubby wanted to buy some tools to cut the overgrown branches near to our house. As usual, it was not easy looking for parking space. We parked near the Tong Hing Supermarket, imagine that! Jauh dan panas. Tahan sajalah.

The first gerai kami jumpa, jual handicrafts. We bought two signages with my sons' names on it. They said, they wanted to hang them on their bedrooms' door.

While waiting, we were interestedly watching the owners making key chains, frames etc. Laku pula tiba-tiba :)

When asked, the owner told us that they didn't attend any handicrafts school. They just watched other people do it and they give it a try. Wow! how nice. Free learning.

A very good business with good income too! They charged us RM3.00 for a very basic board and 50 cents for each letter. If you choose board with flowers or decorations, you have to pay extra RM1.00. But my sons were not interested with flowers :)

I spotted nice bags hanging across the handicraft stall. I thought of buying one but in the end I totally forgot about them as we moved along the street. But later on, I managed to buy a small purse.

A group of handicaps entertaining the crowds. They were playing a Shadow's song when we passed by. I took a video too. (will upload later)

This is the place where my son loves most. He likes drawing. Infact, dia sudah buat banyak sketches. Let see if I can curi-curi his sketch and post here :D

And what did my youngest son buy for himself? A T-Shirt with a picture of a skull - Sabah Borneo, Land of the Headhunters!

How Superstitious Are You?

I think all of us are familiar with chain-letters. But nowadays, it became chain-emails or chain-sms or whatever modern technology call it. Normally, when I received those, I just ignore and sometimes deleting without reading them. This past few days, I keep on receiving this e-mail and like I said I just hit the delete button.

Again, on July 2nd at 11.36am I received the same e-mail as below:

From: Hilda
Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2008 11:36 AM
To: [deleted]
Subject: FW: E-mail me after u read this

Let me know what happens to you the morning after you open this e-mail. This is an unusual one. It actually gives you a time tomorrow. Let's see if it works.

GUARDIAN ANGEL

Forward this message the same day you received it. It may sound ridiculous, but it is right on time. We believe that something is about to happen. Angels exist, only sometimes they haven't got wings and we call them friends; you are one of them. Something wonderful is about to happen to you and your friends. Tomorrow at 8:23am somebody will address you and tell you something you have been waiting to hear. Please send it to at least 7 of your friends.

Of course, I didn't send out this e-mail as instructed. But it stayed in my inbox as I totally forgot about it.

Now, this is what happened yesterday. At around 8.15am, a colleague from Lahad Datu (En. Rusdi) dropped by at my office and gave two packets of keropok which he bought from Terengganu. Soon after he left, Stella, another colleague who is just at next door, came in bringing one plastic bag. She told me that it was from my friend in Kedah (Anis Haniza). They met in Terengganu. The bag contained, 3 packets of keropok, 2 packets of dodol and baju batik. Wow! syoknya. Banyak betul tu keropok so I shared them with Stella and Serman (also a colleague).

At 10.15am, I went out for my tea break. Then I met Hilda (the one who sent the email above) eating alone so I joined her. She paid my food. Oh well, let her, coz dia tu gaji besar :D

Around 12.45pm, I was about to lock the office door when Janaith, a colleague from Labuan called and said she wanted to see me. She gave me a packet of chocolate.

15 minutes to 5pm, I received a call from my brother. He said he wanted to belanja me and hubby a 'Bak Kut Teh' dinner. Wah! rezeki jangan ditolak. So we had our dinner at 818 Restaurant, Millennium Plaza. What a lucky day for me!

When I came in to the office this morning, as usual I'll browse through my email. Then I realized, Hilda's e-mail is still in my inbox. This sentence caught me "let me know what happens to you" then I start recalling what had happened to me yesterday (shared as above). I've replied Hilda's e-mail telling her from A to Z and I am yet to receive her comments :D

So, tell me. Is it superstitious or merely coincidence?

But I like the Friday's smile. That's how I feel every Friday...hehehe

SM St. Michael School Penampang's Bazaar

SM St. Michael, Penampang organized a mini bazaar last sunday, 29 June 2008. I went there to support their activity and also giving moral support to my children.

The main purpose of this bazaar is in aid of the exchange of students between Yong Ho High School (YHHS), South Korea and SM St. Michael, Penampang itself. 20 students from YHHS, South Korea will be visiting St. Michael this month and selected students from St. Michael will return the visit to YHHS somewhere in November.

The turn-ups of this bazaar was good and personally I think, it was a successful.
